Episode 53: A chat with Professor Cheryl Praeger

She is considered one of Australia’s greatest mathematicians!

Professor Cheryl Praeger turned her passion for the mathematics of symmetry into a long and distinguished career at the University of Western Australia.

Cheryl has won many distinguished awards. Among them, she was appointed a member of the Order of Australia for her research and service to mathematics. In 2019, she also became the first pure mathematician to be awarded the Prime Minister’s Prize for Science.

But just as importantly as her research, Cheryl has worked tirelessly to promote and advance mathematics education. She is also a role model and champion for women in STEM.
