Episode 48: Australian Women of Mathematics Exhibit

The term mathematical modelling takes on a whole new meaning for a group of Australian mathematicians. In this case, they are models. Or should we say, role models.

They are part of the just-released “Australian Women of Mathematics” exhibit, launched as part of the 2021 International Women in Mathematics Day celebrations.

The aim of the exhibit is to show others, especially the next generation, that Hollywood has it all wrong when it comes to what a mathematician is. Especially, that mathematics is a discipline only for men.

In this episode we chat with Professor Kate Smith-Miles, one of the people who led the push to get this exhibit for Australia.
