Episode 36: From Maths to the Media

What can you do with a mathematics education? For Casey Briggs, he's become the stats guy on TV for the COVID-19 pandemic. Casey Briggs breaks down covid-19 data for viewers of the ABC.

Casey brings a unique skill set to his work in the media. He didn’t study journalism at Uni. Instead, he completed a master of philosophy in mathematics and statistics at The University of Adelaide. But rather than stick with maths and stats, he decided to pursue a career in the media.

In this episode, Casey talks about his role in communicating data – especially when it comes to a story like the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also talks about the challenges of presenting statistics and data to a TV audience.
