As the Covid-19 pandemic moved into Australia, hospital emergency departments feared the worst – that they might not be able to handle the influx of patients coming in for treatment.

On a normal day, most E-R departments operate at or around 100-percent capacity.

But in the past few weeks – during this pandemic – something strange has happened. Those numbers have dropped. But why?
