Dr Lachlan Gibson is a postdoctoral research fellow with ACEMS at the University of Queensland. His current research interests include stochastic modelling and reinforcement learning applied to AI safety and control optimisation problems. Lachlan also completed his Master of Data Science and Doctor of Philosophy at the University of Queensland, originally working with the Optical-micromanipulation Group to investigate fluid forces present in optical tweezers systems. Subsequently, Lachlan worked with the UQ Centre for Applications in Natural Resource Mathematics dealing with environmental variable data, population models and restless multi-armed bandits.
