Ella Wilson is an undergraduate engineering and mathematics student at QUT. They were recently apart of a QUT vocation program partnered with ARC Centre of Excellence for Mathematical and Statistical Frontiers (ACEMS) with two other students, researching koala conservations strategies. The goal the study was to demonstrate how a combination of field sampling, new technologies, expert elicitation, and statistical modelling could be used to inform koala conservation. This project is currently still in motion.
Ella’s current projects include building upon the Koala project and transforming R data into Virtual Reality. They hope to become more experienced and knowledgeable with the programs they are currently using, creating a wider skill set to benefit future projects. Ella believes that the time they have spent learning and working with ACEMS has been invaluable, and is grateful for the experience.
