Workshop on Computational and Mathematical Foundations for Big Data Analytics

When:

Monday 25th and Tuesday the 26th July, 2016

Where:

QUT Gardens Point Campus, room GP-V714, (V block, 7th floor room 714).

The QUT node of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Mathematical and Statistical Frontiers (ACEMS) will host a two-day workshop on Computational and Mathematical Foundations for Big Data Analytics. This event will run over Monday 25th and Tuesday the 26th July, 2016 at the QUT Gardens Point Campus in Brisbane.

Topics for the workshop at this stage include: Tensors, sparse grids, multi-scale modelling approaches, machine learning, model reduction, along with the related application areas.

Invited speakers for the workshop will include Karen Willcox, Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics, MIT. There will be spots available for 14 talks during the Workshop. If you are interested in presenting your research at the Workshop please email Claudia Deasy as soon as possible.

The workshop will close with a roundtable discussion on future directions on the role of mathematical and computational techniques in Big Data applications, with a particular emphasis on the intersection of big data analytics and computational science and engineering in the Australian and New Zealand contexts.
